We congratulate the project team behind the "Drammen–Kobbervikdalen railway-project" for winning the “Construction Project of the Year 2025” award.

The project represents one of Norway’s most complex railway developments, comprising approximately ten kilometers of new double track, extensive station reconstruction, and the construction of both a rock tunnel and a technically demanding soft-ground tunnel, the first of its kind in Norway. The construction work was carried out in a densely populated and highly trafficked area, with continuous train operations running through the construction zone. This placed significant demands on phasing, risk management, and logistics, including handling more than 70 train disruptions.

The project was delivered on schedule, with high technical quality and within budget, while also integrating a new city bridge and related urban development measures in Drammen. The jury highlights the project’s strong collaboration capabilities, innovative methods, and ability to maintain safety and operational reliability within a complex interface between existing and new railway infrastructure.

“Being part of a project recognized as Construction Project of the Year is confirmation that the competence, dedication, and quality we deliver truly make a difference. This project shows what is possible when professional environments bring out the best in each other, and we are proud to have contributed to an infrastructure asset that will create value for both travelers and industry for decades to come,” says Anders Nyhus, Head of Infrastructure Department at Dr.techn. Olav Olsen.

The team has demonstrated a professional standard at the very top of the Norwegian construction industry, and we congratulate them on an achievement that sets a new benchmark for the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
