Bouygues Travaux Publics acquires floating offshore wind technology developed by Dr.techn. Olav Olsen AS

Publisert: 15. September, 2022

Bouygues Travaux Publics are the new owners of OO-STAR, a foundation solution for floating offshore wind, originally developed by Dr.techn. Olav Olsen. The two companies will co-operate to position themselves as suppliers towards an emerging mega-market for floating offshore wind internationally.

OO-STAR is considered by strong players to be among the most promising concepts for the floating offshore wind farms of the future. The solution can be adapted to all relevant sea conditions, reduces the carbon footprint of larger offshore wind farms and has the potential for major cost reductions for renewable energy production through scaling effects and reduced operating and maintenance costs.

In the collaboration, the two companies' leading engineering and implementation expertise will offer an integrated, innovative and competitive solution for the floating offshore wind market. The semi-submersible concrete foundations will be mass-produced in a timely and cost-effective manner based on Bouygues Travaux Publics' unique expertise related to industrial serial production of large concrete structures for the marine environment.
