Dr.techn. Olav Olsen awarded 3 fjord crossing studies on the Norwegian west coastPublisert: 20. May, 2021
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has chosen Dr.techn. Olav Olsen & Norconsult as one of 2 groups that will perform concept development studies for fixed crossings for E39 over the Halsafjord and Sulafjord in Møre og Romsdal county. The result of the work will form the basis for further development and the final concept selection for the two fjords.
The Olav Olsen – Norconsult Joint Venture has been assigned the development of 3 separate crossing concepts; a submerged floating tube bridge for crossing the 4 km wide and highly exposed Sulafjord and a floating bridge and a suspension bridge on a deep water caisson for the 2 km wide Halsafjorden, respectively. From previous crossing studies, the group is well into the challenges of crossing these fjords and, together with its partners Ife, Prodtex, Buksér og Berging and Miko Marine is well prepared and rigged to come up with viable crossing solutions.
The two supplier groups, the Olav Olsen – Norconsult group and the Aas-Jakobsen – Multiconsult – Cowi joint venture, will complete their studies by April 2022.
